ASEAN Infrastructure Fund Brochure and Overview of AIF Loans
0 bytes •
The ASEAN Infrastructure Fund (AIF) promotes regional infrastructure financing and financial resilience to support long-term development of ASEAN countries.
Infrastructure plays a critical role in driving economic growth and cutting poverty, so ADB and the member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) agreed to establish a dedicated fund to meet some of the region’s investment needs.
A Shareholders Agreement for the AIF was signed in September 2011 among ASEAN member countries and ADB, outlining the contributions and equity participations of each member. ADB, which is investing $150 million, administers the AIF and provides technical support.
To support AIF operations, ADB has been providing operational and knowledge assistance to ASEAN members to help build a consensus on project identification and prioritization, and on suitable financing mechanisms.
ADB is also working closely with its developing member countries and relevant partners to mobilize additional financing for infrastructure projects.
